In this project, students will learn about their 5 senses through exploration of hands-on materials. Our special education team hopes that this project will allow our students to better understand their bodies, learn calming tools and strategies, and be able to apply these strategies when they are dysregulated. Learning about the 5 senses will not only enhance students' academic learning but also promotes independence, self-awareness, and self-regulation. Many of our students receive Occupational Therapy, Speech and Language services, and Social Work services at school. This project aims to support students in all of these areas as students learn to make connections between their senses and the world around them.
