MSGCU annually awards approximately $45,000 in grants, and the amount awarded varies based on the quantity of applicants and the dollar amount requested. In 2023, for example, more than 60 teachers were awarded grants.
The grant will provide funds for materials, equipment, and other resources necessary to carry out a project that would otherwise not be covered by the school's budget. Grant requests for restocking library books are not eligible, however a specific project idea from the educator can be submitted. Food, capital equipment, and outside presenters will be considered for funding only if they are integral to a proposed classroom activity. Funds will not be allocated to pay teachers and/or substitutes for staff development/training. Field trips of any kind are not eligible for grant funding.
