Our school has a new early learning program specifically for youngsters on the Autism Spectrum. These children are in Kindergarten-2nd grade who are not yet able to be integrated into general education due to lack of communication and behaviors. The Second Step Early Learning program would assist me, as the school social worker to this program and elementary school, in teaching them the joint attention and self-regulation skills they need to advance. I have used the Second Step Elementary kit in the past and know it is an awesome, research-based program. In addition, there are several other students who can benefit from this program whom I service in small groups.
