Building early literacy skills is a major focus in preschool. Early literacy skills are a predictor of a childâs later school performance and academic achievement. I am seeking money to add literacy materials to our classroom. These literacy items would include a felt board, felt story retelling pieces, new books, materials to start a lending library, literacy board games and hands on literacy activities that are age appropriate for preschool. I would also purchase literacy materials that can be used in our sensory table, block area, dramatic play area as well as our light table. The materials I plan on purchasing will help provide my students with more variety in our classroom. Adding literacy items to all areas of my classroom will help my students get more exposure to literacy as they are having choice time and playing.
