As a 6th grade math teacher, I am constantly working to build the confidence of my students and encourage students to take risks in problem solving. In many of the units we are completing this year, students are encouraged to use a calculator so that the focus can be on the new skill and not basic operations. A classroom set of calculators would help my students feel more confident and willing to take risks in their problem solving. In addition to calculators, I would like to purchase dry erase pockets, dice for our probability unit, and storage bags for student supplies. I know my students will benefit from these purchases.
